Acceptable Use
What may and may not be published at a seat, what moderation can do about it, and what it can never take away.
Effective 2026-10-02 · applies to every seat listing and every banner on the RotateAd network
What a seat is — and what it is not
A RotateAd seat is a permanent seat number in that public index. The seat number is assigned once, by order of arrival, and never changes. That permanence is the product.
Permanent ownership of a seat does not create an unlimited right to publish whatever the owner chooses.
The seat number, its claim date, its price, its referral lineage and its ownership history are permanent records and are not subject to moderation. What is subject to moderation is what is publicly presented at that seat: the listing and, separately, the banner. A moderated listing keeps its number, its domain on file, its owner and its history. Only its public presentation changes.
What is prohibited
The following may not be published as a listing destination or as a banner creative. This list covers both the website a seat points at and any banner submitted to the RotateAd network.
Illegal activity
- Content that violates applicable law in the jurisdiction where it is hosted or served, including fraud, phishing, and distribution of stolen material.
- Sale or distribution of controlled substances without lawful authorisation.
- Facilitation of unlicensed financial services, including impersonation of a financial institution.
Harm to people
- Sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises children.
- Content that promotes or coordinates violence against identifiable people or groups.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery.
- Content that targets individuals for harassment or that publishes private personal information without consent.
Deception
- Phishing, credential harvesting, or pages that impersonate another brand or service to obtain information.
- Malware, drive-by downloads, or links to executables presented as something else.
- Deliberately misleading claims that misrepresent what the destination is.
Technical abuse
- Pages that attempt to escape the browser sandbox, run cryptocurrency miners without disclosure, or hijack a visitor's device.
- Destinations that serve a different page to RotateAd's reviewers than to ordinary visitors.
Content the network cannot responsibly carry
- Content that would cause RotateAd to lose its payment processing, hosting or domain services.
- Destinations that exist only to redistribute RotateAd banner impressions to another network.
What moderation can do
RotateAd may take any of the following actions, with a recorded reason. These are four separate levers because they answer four separate questions: a seat may be Listing: Hidden and Banner: Suspended at the same time. Suspending a banner does not hide a listing; blocking a listing does not touch a banner.
Hide
The listing is removed from public discovery surfaces — not shown on the Board, the Stage or the sitemap. Reversible.
Block
The listing destination is no longer publicly clickable. Visitors see a neutral "Listing unavailable" placeholder that preserves the seat number and nothing else. Reversible.
Suspend banner
The member's banner stops being selected for network delivery and stops receiving impressions. The Banner membership stops renewing and is cancelled at the end of the paid period. Reversible.
Permanent ban banner
The member's banner is removed from the network permanently. Not reversible through the member interface. The membership is cancelled at the end of the paid period. The permanent seat is not affected.
None of these actions deletes a seat, recycles a seat number, reassigns ownership, or destroys ownership history.
How decisions are made
- Moderation is applied at RotateAd's discretion, and is not a promise of prior review.
- A listing is generally reviewed when it is reported or when a routine check finds a problem. There is no continuous monitoring commitment.
- Where practical, the owner is told which action was taken and why. The reason recorded by the moderator is stored with the action.
- RotateAd may act immediately on content in the "Harm to people" and "Illegal activity" categories without prior notice.
There is no guarantee about any particular outcome, turnaround time or appeal result. This policy states the rules and the levers; it is not a contract for a particular level of service.
Appealing
If you believe a moderation action was applied in error, reply to the email address on your manage page with the seat number and the reason you were given.
- Hide and Block can be reversed.
- Suspend banner can be reversed.
- Permanent ban banner is not reversible through the normal member interface. It is reserved for the most serious cases.
Restoring a listing or a banner does not create any entitlement to new promotion, new exposure, or a restart of any rotation position. Past exposure is not recalculated and no catch-up exposure is created.
Your responsibilities as an owner
- Keep your listing destination operational and accurate.
- Submit only banner creatives you have the right to use. Creatives must be exactly 728×90, and must not contain executable content. SVG is not accepted.
- Do not attempt to manipulate impression or click counts.
- Do not use multiple seats to circumvent a moderation action.
What does not change
Whatever happens under this policy, the following are unaffected:
- Your permanent seat number and its place in the index.
- The claim date, the price paid, and the referral lineage recorded on your receipt page.
- Your ownership of the seat, as shown by your manage link.
- Historical records of what your listing and banner previously contained.
Moderation changes what is publicly presented. It does not rewrite history. The same distinction is written into the Terms.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated. The version above is dated. Material changes apply to listings and banners going forward; a listing that was compliant when it was created is not retroactively judged by a rule that did not exist.
